Anita Garimella's Art and Social Media Workshop
The Center for Internet and Society (CIS) and Art, Resources and Teaching Trust (A.R.T.) Bangalore have came together to organize an interactive workshop two-day workshop, “Art and Social Media” by Anita Garimella. The workshop was conducted at A.R.T.'s Casa Andree II building at Shanti Nagar.
Artists, gallery owners, office administrators, students participated in the event. There was free flowing discussion which ranged from questioning,“If the web was just a mirror of our biased off-line thoughts?” to problem solving, “how do I disseminate dance related information on-line?”
Drawing from her experience of being an Internet software product management and marketing consultant Anita provided an interesting perspective of the web presence of Artists, art marketing and publishers on the first day.
Back in Philadelphia, Anita is involved with the TechGirlz in collaboration with DreamIt Ventures. It is an educational model to involve middle school girls to germinate their own ideas related to technology or software. Earlier as a Standford student she has designed an introductory computer curriculum for two Bermudian public high schools by working with teachers, students and computer professionals. Anita is very optimistic about the growing interest in web 2.0 technologies and reaching out to make it more accessible to more women.
